HostDear mirrors how an accommodation business sells real places to stay. You only need the concepts that apply to your business.
The basic structure
Organization
An organization is the business or team managing the accommodation.
It contains your properties and controls who can work with them. A sole owner with one property still has an organization, even when there are no other team members.
Property
A property is a destination presented to guests as one place.
It contains the accommodations guests can book and information shared across that destination. A villa and studio at the same location can belong to one property when they share the same identity and facilities.
Bookable accommodation
A bookable accommodation is something a guest can choose to reserve. HostDear calls it a unit.
Examples include:
- An entire villa
- A studio
- A double room type
- A campsite pitch type
Create separate accommodations when they need their own availability, capacity, content, or price.
Available accommodation
An available accommodation is the real room, villa, apartment, bed, or pitch that fulfils a booking. HostDear calls it a unit instance.
Examples:
- One Main Villa has one instance.
- One Studio has one instance.
- Ten interchangeable Double Rooms have ten instances.
Instances let you take one physical accommodation out of service without changing the description or price of the accommodation type.
Spaces
A space describes an area a guest receives or can use.
The location of a space communicates who it belongs to:
- A property space is shared across the destination, such as a communal pool, garden, or parking area.
- An accommodation space belongs to one bookable accommodation, such as its bedroom, kitchen, or private terrace.
Ask: “Does every guest at this property receive this space?” If yes, add it to the property. If only one accommodation receives it, add it there.
Add-ons
An accommodation add-on lets a guest combine another bookable accommodation with their main choice.
For example, the Studio can be offered to someone booking the Main Villa. The add-on links the existing accommodations; it does not create another Studio.
You do not need add-ons when guests always book each accommodation independently.
